Until players reported some heavy connectivity issues. This morning, Capcom unfortunately had to pull the highly-anticipated game offline for "extended maintenance," simply because of the severe connectivity issues that downright prevented people from enjoying their matches.
These issues began about 6 p.m. PDT last night, as players found themselves not battling against fellow gamers, but instead with connectivity to move past the title screen. Then, Capcom acknowledged the issues and worked to resolve them, eventually taking SFV offline for overnight maintenance. However, at 7 A.M. PDT/10 AM EST, the company wrote this:
"We apologize for the ongoing issues that users have been experiencing with the SFV beta test. In order to allow us to fix the issues as quickly as possible, we are going to initiate a period of extended maintenance, during which time the beta will be unavailable to all users. We will let you know the date on which the closed beta test will re-open once all problems have been fixed. We sincerely apologize for having to bring this unfortunate news to you. Thank you for your patience. Please stay tuned for further updates."
Capcom thus officially announced that they will be extending the beta as a result of these outages. Even the executive producer, Yoshinori Ono, of the Street Fighter series chimed in with a Tweet:
"I'm very apologetic towards players. I'm sorry that I don't have enough ability about SFV beta. Plz give me chance for re-scheduling SFV beta."
Unfortunate to wait a little longer, but hopefully the wait will be worth it for the players. The beta was originally supposed to begin July 23 with four characters and run until July 28 with two characters added to the roster on July 25.
