Capcom, in its consolidated financial results for FY2016, had a little extra to share after it was done talking shop with investors: an assurance that Resident Evil, the iconic and, truthfully, terribly mocked horror franchise they head, was going to enter a "full-scale offensive" later this year.
Not make much sense? Here's the quote in full:
“In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release... Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year,”
Umbrella Corps was, of course, delayed until later this year, but while that was always interesting it doesn't look like the revolution the franchise needs. We also know a Resident Evil 2 remake is on its way, but it was announced a while ago and that alone hardly constitutes a "full-scale offensive". Or maybe it does. The term is pretty vague.
So I guess we'll have to wait till March 31st before we figure out what it is Capcom has planned. Fun, right?
