Capcom has been quite busy these last handful of years. Between Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, theyve been knocking it out of the park. But can they keep their classic fighting game in the light alongside them? Were going to find out soon. Capcom has officially revealed plans for Street Fighter 6.
The major developer and publisher recently revealed online that Street Fighter 6 is not only in development, but that more details about it will come in Summer of this year (2022). For now, all we get is a dramatic teaser trailer, showing Luke square off with Ryu.
There remains much mystery about the game. One concern is that the game might be a PlayStation exclusive, like Street Fighter 5. It was also reported that the next Street Fighter would run on the RE Engine, which wowd plenty of folks with the recent Resident Evil games.
But there is one thing we can take a closer look at: Luke. Older Street Fighter fans might not recognize him. Luke was a DLC option for SF5, an offensive character from the United States. With a young and ambitious attitude, Capcom called him the future of Street Fighter. They also remarked that he will be a major part of the next game. Him stepping to Ryu is quite the take when you consider it a metaphor for the franchise. For the better? Well, we will see.
