When it comes to major developers and publishers, we're always wondering what they have planned next. Fortunately for us, some of them are publicly owned and traded. This means they have an obligation to report to investors. Capcom is just such a company, and this time, their investor reports have shed a bit of light on what to expect from the company.
Capcom recently released their
Business Divisional Strategies and Projections in FY2018 report via their publicly available investor relations portal. Under section
3.1 Digital contents, the company explains their plans for promoting the global expansion of major brands. From here, they state three things:
- Monster Hunter: World broke 8 million units shipped, and they plan to grow sales with continued promotion and PC sales this fall.
- They will release multiple title updates to maintain player interest and catalog sales.
- "Planning to release 2 major titles"
The last bit has us the most interested. Since this is a fiscal report for 2018, this means they're planning to release two new games this year. "Major titles" leaves a great deal to the imagination, unfortunately. One assumption can be that one of the games will be the
previously announced Mega Man 11 game. As for the other, it could be anything. Only time will tell, though with planned title updates, we will likely hear soon enough.
