It's been over a month since the release of Monster Hunter: World and Capcom already has plans to release their first free update to the game. Arriving later this month, expect to see new gear, new weapons, a special spring event, and the dreaded Deviljho.

The world eater beast was previously confirmed to be the first post-release monster to be added to the game. With the new challenge, players will also be able to craft a new armor set and new weapons. The set, called Vangis, is stylized after the monster's design. Their stats remain unknown, but they sure look nice.

The update for PS4 (version 2.00) and Xbox One (version 2.0.0.0) will launch on March 22. Alongside the Deviljho content, Capcom has made a number of balancing changes to the game. The changes are as follows:
  • Great Sword: increased the damage for Charged Slash abilities.
  • Long Sword: improvements to Foresight Slash input timing and hitbox detection.
  • Sword & Shield: Roundslash damage increased and improved slinger usability
  • Dual Blades: adjustments to help maintain Demon Gauge active
  • Hammer: adjusted the stun values on charged attacks
  • Hunting Horn: general attack power increase
  • Lance: Counter-thrust adjustment to increase ease of use
  • Gunlance: Reduced sharpness loss for shelling, and made some attack power increases
  • Switch Axe: Zero Sum Discharge adjustments to increase ease of use
  • Charge Blade: balance adjustments to Impact Phial and Power Element Phial
  • Insect Glaive: improvements to extract attack power increase and extract effect length
  • Bow: fixed various bugs
Capcom has also resolved a griefing problem. Now your teammates can no longer interrupt the carving process, preventing you from collecting your hard-earned rewards. This applies to NPC creatures as well.

Another new feature is the ability to change your characters with the use of a Character Edit Voucher. This voucher will allow players to change their gender and physical appearance with already-made characters. Everyone can redeem one free voucher on March 16. Additional vouchers will be available for purchase "at a later date," as well.

The game developer also announced their first seasonal event: the Spring Blossom Fest. From April 5th, 5 pm PT to April 18th, 5 pm PT, the Gathering Hub will be decorated with flowers, staff have new outfits, and a new meal platter will be available.

More details about the update can be found on Capcom's blog post.
