Get cozy and grab your popcorn, we have another video game movie adaption coming. And this time, it's Mega Man.

According to a press release by Capcom, a Hollywood live action adaption of the game franchise is planned. The film will be produced by Chernin Entertainment (best known for the Planet of the Apes films) and will be written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Paranormal Activity 3/4).

"Based on the influential and globally beloved Mega Man franchise, Capcom aims to appeal to a diverse audience, including not only game players but action movie fans as well, with an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for."

Video adaptions of IPs is by no means a new concept to Capcom. Last year, we saw the release of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. And lest we forget, Mega Man: Fully Charged, the animated television show, began airing in North America in August 2018.

This is the most recent announcement of retro game film adaptions, all the same. In the last year alone, we've heard about a film for...

To The Moon
Monster Hunter
Ingress
The Division
Doom
Sonic The Hedgehog

And yet none of them have checked off on our Live Action Video Game Movies I'd Like To See list. As for how many will actually make it to a public release, there's no way of knowing at this time. Stay tuned for more as this develops.

And no, the header image is not official artwork of the movie, its the PAL box  art for the first Mega Man game.
