Call of Duty: WW2 Launch Trailer revealed

It's alright, I guess.

I reported earlier this week that the latest Call of Duty game, which takes the series back to World War 2, would be officially released soon, and that a limited amount of information about the game had been revealed via leaks. Well, the countdown to the worldwide reveal was released the other day, and our first trailer for the game has been unveiled, as well as a release date.

So prepare yourselves, ladies and gentlemen, because on November 3rd for PC, Xbox One, and PS4, we’ll be thrust into World War 2 once more.

Over two years in the making, Sledgehammer Games delivers a gritty, personal experience in the setting of the largest worldwide conflict in history to a new gaming generation in Call of Duty®: WWII. Play through the story of ordinary men turned soldiers in the 1st Infantry Division as they fight to preserve freedom in the face of tyranny. Call of Duty: WWII delivers fast-paced, boots-on-ground combat through iconic locations in the European Theater.

The reception to the video has been positive, especially compared to the overwhelming negativity that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare inspired. At time of writing, of the 6+ million views on this trailer, there are only 41k downvotes, and 540k upvotes. Fans of the series are genuinely happy to see it step away from the modern/futuristic setting.

As for me? It just looks boring to me, to be honest. It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper World War 2 FPS, but there’s a good reason for that, and this trailer is a tired reminder of every one of them. We’ve all stormed Normandy more times than we can count, and if our “personal experience” is just playing another American marching across Europe, then I’d just as soon skip it over.

Still, they have plenty of opportunities to prove me wrong in the coming months.
