Mobile devices are continuing to pull in a major gaming market. Further solidifying this idea is the new announcement of a Call of Duty mobile game.

Activision and Tencent have announced Call of Duty: Mobile, a phone-based rendition of the popular first-person shooter franchise. Developed by Tencent's Timi studio, it'll be releasing on Android and iOS devices.

The game will include a number of multiplayer modes, including Search and Destroy, Free For All, Zombies, and what appears to be Blackout, their Battle Royale game mode. Players will unlock classic character to play as from past Call of Duty games, with customizable loadouts and gear.

The game was revealed at the 2019 GDC during the Unity keynote. Activision VP of mobile Chris Plummer spoke about the game at the event.

"Together with the amazing team at Tencent, were bringing together a collection of the most beloved maps, competitive modes, familiar characters and signature weapons from across this storied franchise into one epic experience for the first time on mobile.

Players can pre-register for the game's upcoming public beta on the official website. No official release date was announced at this time.

Before you think about how no one asked for this, there's one thing to consider. Asia, the continent of Tencent's origin, has a massive mobile gaming market compared to the United States and Europe. So while American audiences might have a small number of interested players, Asia likely has far more.
