Brandon "Famed God" Wilson Arrested for 2014 SWAT Attack

Swatting - Unfortunately, the modern version of prank-calling.

There has been a fairly recent trend of pranks and threats swirling about. No longer exist the misleading phone calls or mayonnaise-filled donuts. Instead, it's all about SWATting, or the act of calling an emergency service such as 911 and forcing a dispatch based on false reports.

Celebrities have been raided by SWAT teams by mysterious phone-callers, but gamers have also wielded the trickery as a weapon. Brandon "Famed God" Wilson, 19 and of Nevada, has been arrested and is awaiting a trip to Illinois. He has been accused of arranging a "SWATting" attack on a gamer back in July 2014.  Funny enough, yesterday's report details a different Wilson involved in a bizarre case.

According to reports, Wilson reported a murder to Naperville, Illinois police, and when the armed law enforcement arrived at the address of the reported murder, no crime was found. He also reportedly threatened the victim with theft of the victim's checking and Social Security accounts and with the promise of putting the victim's father "in debt for life."

Wilson is accused of computer tampering and one count of intimidation, computer fraud, identity theft, and disorderly conduct. If he is convicted, which seems very likely, he will face up to five years in an Illinois prison.

This is likely the same "Famed God" that has been associated with Lizard Squad, the infamous "hackers" that have conducted various crimes over the past few months. "Famed God" has also taken credit for hacking Sony's servers back in August.

SWATting is definitely not a trick to take lightly. Just last week, an actual SWATting attack happened, when a popular Runescape livestreamer's home was raided by armed law enforcement. Joshua Peters, the victim of the SWATting, described in a video that ten police officers held his ten-year-old brother at gunpoint. Luckily, no one was hurt during the raid. The caller or the reason for the call has not been identified.

What happened to the days of just walking away or yelling at the offending gamer after losing a match?
