Borderlands 2 has been confirmed to be coming to Linux.

Word of this comes from Gaming on Linux, which reports that the port will come courtesy of Aspyr Media, who brought the four-player cooperative shooter to Mac.

Gaming on Linux reports that Michael Blair of Aspyr confirmed the port, saying that the company had been working on the game for many months now.

“Yes! BL2 Linux is absolutely real! We've been working hard on it for months and will talk about a release date as soon as possible.”

Earlier this year, Borderlands developer Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford claimed that fans shouldn't get their hopes up about Borderlands 2 coming to Linux, but it looks like the game will be available on the OS very soon.

Borderlands 2 originally came to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2012, and was subsequently ported to Mac later that year. A PlayStation Vita version was released earlier this year alongside the release of the Vita’s slim model.
