Bloodborne, otherwise known as “Sony Regretting Not Supporting Demon’s Souls," otherwise known as “What The Order: 1886 Would Have Looked Like If It Was Good”, otherwise known as “A Game So Ubiquitous to the Souls Franchise I Accidentally Called ‘Dark Souls’ in the First Draft of This Article," is a game I’m quite fond of. Given that, I’m always paying attention to more news and developments to come from it, given that it will be up to the task of scratching my Souls itch once Dark Souls 3 comes and goes and ‎Hidetaka Miyazaki gives the series a well-earned ending.

Well, who would have guessed that our next big bit of Bloodborne news wouldn't come from some big CGI trailer released by Sony, but rather, a simple series of tweets from well-respected purveyor of card games, Eric Lang?

As it turns out, Eric has been working with From Software and Sony to make--a Bloodborne card game!

Bloodborne: risk management with a bit of groupthink, inventory management/upgrades and tactical play in an intense 30 minute card game. Bloodborne is a card game based on the Chalice dungeon runs, where players compete to kill monsters and take their blood. But don't die!

Interesting! Chalice dungeons, with their random element and increasing difficulty, are perfect subjects to plumb for a card game.

My goal with Bloodborne was to channel the intensity and frustration of the video game into a contest between players. Lots of death.

So while, of course, this is everything that could be called my jam, there isn’t much else known beyond what he’s shared over Twitter. We don’t even have a release date. Still, the fact that it’s around, and it’s apparently so far in development, that’s got me pretty pumped. Let’s commune, fellow hunters… just don’t get in my way!
