BlizzCon Books Linkin Park for Closing Ceremony

But in the end, does it really matter?

In two short weeks (and a few extra days) Blizzard will officially kick off BlizzCon 2015, a two-day festival of gaming, community, and everything Blizzard-related. There’s a lot to look forward too--Hearthstone tournaments, the grand finals for the first international Heroes of the Storm tournament, Cosplay as far as the eye can see, and… of course… Linkin Park.

Yes, Linkin Park. Despite the fact their name sounds like a Legend of Zelda children’s book if the Philic CDI version had become canon, there isn’t really that much ‘gamer’ about Linkin Park, not counting all the times “In the End” has been used ironically in a YouTube video. Still, that hasn’t stopped Blizzard from booking them, and in a recent announcement made on the Blizzard website, at least pretending to be excited about it.

"The Grammy Award-winning rock band-and the biggest band on Facebook, with 63 million fans and counting-will be taking the stage the evening of Saturday, November 7, to provide an epic send-off for everyone at this year's convention. We're beyond excited to welcome SoCal natives Linkin Park to close out BlizzCon with a bang on Saturday night. We can't think of a better way to bring two full days of gaming and action-packed eSports matches to an epic conclusion than with a band that'll carry the weekend's electricity through to the very end."

Well, considering last year’s LCS had Imagine Dragons, and the last BlizzCon had mothereffin’ Metallica, I’m pretty sure you can think of a better way to bring to days of gaming to an epic conclusion, you just opted not to do any of it. Far be it from me to insult anyone’s taste in music, but… did someone at Blizzard get confused and forget it’s not 2004?

Ah well. Maybe I’ll be surprised. It’s been a few years since I’ve heard any of their music… so… I’m pretty much disqualified from having a valid opinion anyway. Oh well.
