"Note that this is the last quarter that we plan to provide subscriber numbers. There are other metrics that are better indicators of the overall Blizzard business performance."
As for those subscriber numbers, in this report, it’s yet another drop--we’re down to 5.5 million subscribers, Blizzard having lost 100,000 from the last quarter. Blizzard just can’t seem to keep it’s game from bleeding out, and even with Legion coming out soon, well… we’ve already discussed at length how this is just a delaying tactic. I’m fairly certain at this point there’s no update that will turn this around, World of Warcraft is simply old news--outpaced, perhaps, by the card game that’s ironically inspired from it.
Regardless, at this point, it’s become clear blizzard is committed to this bad boy for the long haul, even if that means bleeding its most devoted with expansion after expansion. Strap yourselves in, kids.
