It’s a lot of hard work to be a World of Warcraft fan.

As the game enjoys it’s tenth anniversary, it’s a time for reflection and celebration for both Blizzard and long-time fans. It’s not easy to run a game for 10+ years, even harder when that game is an MMORPG and the shelf-life for those games is surprisingly small. But Blizzard has made it with the help of some seriously devoted fans, and the most devout of the devout will soon be rewarded with some pretty serious swag.

MMO Champion, not too long ago, posted an unofficial announcement that devoted World of Warcraft players would soon be getting a once-in-a-lifetime prize for their devotion; a small-scale replica of the statue outside Blizzard’s headquarters of an orc riding a wolf, because screw the Alliance. Check it:

The topic was taken down then put back up again over the span of the next few days, but today, Blizzard has gone ahead and made it official; this is actually happening, and all the eligible fans will be receiving emails shortly regarding how to claim their own. Now, to get a statue of your very own, you have to meet two requirements; you had to have subscribed to World of Warcraft within 60 days of it first launching in your region, and you have to have never let your subscription lapse since. That means ten straight years of no-breaks subscription. So if you ever had to take a break, even for once month to help pay for food bills, sucks to be you.

But seriously, it’s a pretty snazzy reward, I’d say, and the fact that so few should ultimately qualify will make it all the snazzier. And all things considered, since a non-stop subscription to WoW for the past ten years costs somewhere in the range of 1,800 dollars, I’d say a statue is the least these people deserve.
