Almost two weeks ago, I covered a story in which a Korean eSports website called Sports Seoul published an article stating that Blizzard was indeed still developing StarCraft Remastered and that an announcement would be coming from Blizzard in the next week or so. At the time, this was just a rumor and nobody knew whether to take the announcement seriously or not since rumors about the game had been floating around for over a year.
Thankfully, it seems that Sports Seoul was completely right. Now almost two weeks later, Blizzard has announced that they will be releasing StarCraft: Remastered this summer. If you were holding back your excitement based on skepticism like I was, now's the time to board the hype train.
StarCraft: Remastered will support 4K Ultra HD, updated audio and matchmaking support of course. The eSports scene is about to blow up this summer, once again with classic StarCraft competitions and I can't wait. Starcraft: Remastered will, of course, include all of the content from the 1998 original title as well as the expansion, Brood War. Since Battle.net is no more, StarCraft: Remastered will be fully connected to what is now called the Blizzard app. Blizzard also stated that the game will feature new illustrations along with the updated graphics to "enhance storytelling" in campaign missions. Cloud saves will also be available for campaign, custom matches, replays, and keybindings.
StarCraft: Remastered will be available to play sometime this summer on PC and Mac. Sorry console players. Honestly, just watching this trailer takes be back to the days of my childhood when I was playing StarCraft on a crappy laptop before I could actually buy anything of my own. Luckily, I now have a pretty beast computer to crank up the graphics and enjoy everything this game has to offer.
