After a new Chinese government ruling was recently instated, all games that contain online loot boxes must officially state the drop rates for their items. The first major company to announce their drop rates was, of course, Blizzard for their game, Overwatch.
Now for those of you that are curious, these drop rates are only for the rarity colors. The company decided that they weren't going to give individual drop rates for every single unique item in the game, so this will have to do for now. Every single loot box in the game will contain at least one blue (Rare) rarity item for players. Even if you get a whole bunch of nothing, you will at the bare minimum get one blue to take home.
Other than that, the drop rate for purple (Epic) rarity is one drop for every 5.5 loot boxes opened. Slightly less common than that, we have the Orange/Gold (Legendary) rarity, which will be obtained after every 13.5 loot boxes opened. Keep in mind, this is all luck. You could open 40 loot boxes and get 40 blues with a bunch of common drops. On the other hand, you might open 40 and get enough legendary drops to retire early. Regardless, these are the stats and you can expect other major companies to release theirs in the near future.
