Bioware Won't "Switch" Mass Effect Andromeda Plans for Nintendo

It's way more appropriate to use the Switch in puns than it was to use the Wii.

Well here comes the surprise of the century (which was the most sarcastic thing I’ve written all year): EA has no plans to bring their upcoming sci-fi epic to Nintendo’s upcoming mobile-based console. Now, you probably could have guessed that, as the latest trailers made no mention of a Switch release, and we’ve been hearing about Switch games for the past two years, even back when it was called the NX. Still, in an interview with Stevivor, BioWare producer Michael Gamble reiterated that there were no plans for a Switch release.

"Yeah, not right now, no. We're not planning on it… If the Switch launches and everyone's just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows. We never want to close doors like that.”

So there’s a chance if the Switch is super popular, but it seems highly unlikely. Nintendo has always had a rough time with third party support, especially from EA, whose audiences don’t tend to mash up with Nintendo’s very frequently. The same could be said of Bioware, but at least they made Sonic and the Dark Brotherhood, which was for the DS.

For what it’s worth, they do plan on supporting the game for the PlayStation 4 Pro, but there are no overt plans for the Scorpio yet. So, for those of you inclined towards Sony, congrats on the win? I guess?
