So if you haven’t been kept quite up to date on the state of things in the gaming world, let me have the honor of informing you that The Binding of Issac, a procedurally generated roguelike where you direct a child through a nightmare labyrinth using tears and physical malformations as weapons, is quite popular. Popular enough that it received at least three different updates and expansions, and that people are still going crazy for it.
But, that’s the awkward part. You work on something like the Binding of Isaac for so long, things will no doubt get stale before long. Even someone as dedicated as Edmund McMillen needs a change of pace, and because of this, he just announced the other day that he and his partner in crime, James Id, have been secretly working on a new game for the past few months, and they’re finally ready to tease it.
Introducing: The Legend of Bum-bo!
It’s going to be a procedurally generated turn-based RPG puzzle “type thingy”... and that’s pretty much all we know. Edmund made a big deal regarding the fact it was revealed to us on the Binding of Issac website, but beyond that, well… we don’t got much. But still, it’s something, and for Binding of Issac fans, it’s probably more than enough to feel hype for.
So yeah. That’s happening.
Neat, right?
