Another year and a half of waiting...

With the first game being about 15 years old at this point, it's easy to make jokes about the seemingly endless development of Beyond Good and Evil 2. But it may not be quite as far as you'd think.

Currently, there is no release date set for the game. At this year's E3 we saw a new cinematic trailer and a smidgen of gameplay. Otherwise, it was anyone's guess. Until game director Micheal Ancel spoke about it on Instagram, that is.

"We aim for a playable beta for the end of next year"

A year and a half is a long time to wait for a beta, especially when it's been in development for so long already, but good games take time. Assuming they're using "beta" in the business sense, this would mean the content is done and just bug fixes remain. Though in the current video game climate, beta has grown to mean "not done, but we'll let you play." Either way, a full release can't be too far behind it.

If the anticipation is too much, you can tide yourself over with this video, where the developers of the game break down their recent E3 cinematic trailer.
