Todd Howard, game designer and head of Bethesda Game Studios, will receive the Industry Legend award at the Gamelab conference in Barcelona later this month.
Having worked with Bethesda since 1994, Howard is considered the "new" father of the Elder Scrolls games. While he was not the founder of the series, many attribute his efforts toward the game series' massive success. Howard will talk about these games and more at the event, where Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley will give an onstage interview after the award presentation.
Gamelab will also be giving their Honor Award this year to former Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig at the conference. Previous Industry Legend award winners include Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy), Yu Suzuki (Shenmue), and David Braben (Frontier Developments founder).
The event will also feature a number of new speakers, including The Witness creator Jon Blow, The Behemoth co-founder John Baez, Hazelight Studios founder Josef Fares, EA Sports vice president Daryl Holt, Boss Studios founder Henrique Olifiers, and Magic Leap's Aleissia Laidacker.
The Gamelab award ceremony will be happening at the Hotel Hosperia Tower in Barcelona, from June 27, 2018 to June 29, 2018. You can find more information on the official website.
