Battlefield V pre-orders have not been doing so hot. In fact, according to reporter Sarah E. Needlman in Dow Jones Newswires, pre-order sales of "Battlefield V" have been weak. It makes sense, as the game is snug between the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption. Double that with poor marketing and the title may end up with issues similar to Titanfall 2, which also launched in between two notable titles and, as a result, sales flopped.
How do I mean by poor marketing issues? Well, for one, the initial teaser trailer wasn't enough to captivate many. Furthermore, in terms of actual marketing, EA primarily relied on YouTubers to market the title. Couple that with what appears to be a lack of uniqueness (especially with the implemented battle royale mode), and you have what may be as a flop.
It is unfortunate, but we will see how sales will pan out once it actually launches on October 16 (Deluxe edition), October 18 (EA access players), and October 19 (standard edition) for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
