With the open beta about to kick off, it's a great time to mention that Battlefield 1 is now redoing map design. In Battlefield 4, DICE really played up the destruction of maps and how common it is for one map to suddenly be split into two. They've done away with that idea and introduced something completely different for Battlefield 1. Weather changes on the map will now affect how people play. Whether it's a thick fog that makes stealth easier, or heavy rain that could make it harder to see while flying. The team has also redone the destruction of buildings. A large tower that was once in the center of the map could be destroyed, giving the players a longer view across the map. This could result in more players switch from assault classes to sniper classes.
DICE is looking for dynamic gameplay in Battlefield 1. You have to be able to change your playstyle and understand different elements of the map design in order to truly succeed. The Battlefield franchise is one of the few that actually does a great job with map destruction and I have no doubt that this will benefit their goal. You now have to change the way you play based on how the enemy plays, as well as how the map is altered throughout the course of the match. This will offer players a unique experience when going online and can cause some situations with a lot of outplay potential!
