In case you were living under a rock, or just not on Reddit, for the past few days, you should know that we just finished enjoying the very first Battlefield 1 online beta, which, much like EA's earlier online FPS multiplayer extravaganza, Star Wars Battlefront, was a gigantic success. Following the success of this beta, it seems like Battlefield's spike in popularity may be more than just a momentary craze born from spite for Modern Warfare - perhaps it's a genuine shift in the sea of the modern military shooter.
And when I say "success," I mean SUCCESS. In a blog post, EA recently bragged about the results of the beta, calling it the most successful beta EA has ever done...and given that EA only just recently broke that record with Battlefront, it seems like EA and DICE can do no wrong as of late.
Check out the infograph below:
Yep, 13.1 million people. Nice of EA to add that little historical note at the bottom, it's good to never pass up an opportunity to show off your history chops. Still, if this will be representative of the final game, we have yet to see--the game won't launch until the 13th of October on Origin, and worldwide it will be available on the 21st.
So we'll have to hold off until then to be disappointed, if it really does follow the trajectory first laid out by Battlefront.
