Battleborn's First DLC Hero Coming Soon

And she's got quite the attitude.

While the critical reception of Battleborn has been mixed, leaning on mediocre, there's one thing most every critic can agree on: the best part of Battleborn is the characters, who are diverse, visually interesting, and bursting with life and personality. It's a shame the game can't figure out more to do with them, given it's lack of maps and modes, but if there's one sure-fire way to improve the game, it would be adding more characters.

Fortunately, that was developer Gearbox's plan from the very beginning, and in a press release revealed just the other day, they announced that the first of five free DLC characters would be released soon: the support-class Eldrid, Alani.

"Alani is a member of the Eldrid faction who was raised as a healer but forced to be a warrior, and is all that remains of her order after Rendain's Jennerit Imperium stole the oceans from her world. As a warrior from a planet with vast seas, Alani's attacks and abilities revolve around her power to control water to dish out pain, or heal her fellow Battleborn."

She'll be released for free, as stated earlier, but you still have to earn her buy buying her for 47,500 credits, unlocking her in-game through some feat, or, if you have the season pass/digital deluxe edition of the game, you'll be getting a hero key when she's released, which will allow you to automatically unlock any hero, even if it's not Alani. Fun fact: if you use a hero key on a hero, then meet the prerequisites for unlocking them naturally, you'll get your hero key back. So. That's convenient.

Alani and her water-based fury will release May 24th for Season Pass and Digital Deluxe owners, and May 31st for everyone else. We'll be getting more information on the next free DLC character "Soon", so, look forward to that.
