We reported a while ago that the PC Port of Batman: Arkham Knight suffered from what could gently be called a mild case of basically unplayable.' The glitches, lag, crashes, bugs, and general performance problems meant that PC Gamers had less than an enjoyable experience when they sat down to play, and it got so bad that Warner Brothers decided to pull the game from the Steam store until they could actually address the problem. Patches were released, but it was slow going, and Warner Brothers basically said it would take a long time, so just hold it out.
And hold out we did, which is what brings us to today.
Warner Brothers currently has a closed beta thing going on where a few select players can access certain patches of the game before theyre made publica pretty common practice. The other day, however, they released one but made a mistakethey forgot to lock it down so only authorized people could access it. People noticed the game got a patch, opted into the beta, and got to play this new Patch well before it was supposed to release to the public.
Unfortunately, this was a mistake, and Warner Brothers has since re-locked the patch and reversed the changes in the games of people who opted into this beta unwarranted. And normally, thatd be the end of it: but apparently, from their few hours of playing on this beta-patch people are reporting that the game is actually fixed! They say the graphics look great, the game runs smoothly, and the glitches and bugs that plagued the game are as good as gone: the way the game was supposed to run when it first came out. Fancy that, eh?
Now, the patch isnt done yet, and we have no idea when the ol WB will feel comfortable releasing the patch publically, but this is still great news. I mean, yeah, its just them covering their asses after they knowingly released a crappy version of their product, but were trying to be optimistic here, so just call it a net positive.
EDIT: The Patch was taken off beta and was released publicly just the other day: Batman: Arkham Knight is finally back to the level it should have been from the beginning! Hurrah!
