A couple days ago, we wrote an article on the sudden appearance of the teaser page from Atlus x VanillaWare. Today, it just so happens that the page has revealed Odin Sphere: Leifdrasir, a re-creation of the Odin Sphere released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2007.
Editor's Note: Leif is the variation of the Norse "Leifr," meaning "descendant, heir," and drasir doesn't seem to exist on Google, but if to take a guess, the word could be a variation of the Norse drasill, meaning "horse." So putting two and two together, "Leifdrasir" could mean "heir to the horse," which would definitely refer to Odin.
This re-creation, scheduled to launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita on January 14, 2016 in Japan, is to be "very different" from a typical HD remaster, sporting fully evolved gameplay systems and a classic mode.
For Japanese players, the game will cost 7,980 yen, which equates to a whopping $64.23 in the US, which could mean that the US could be seeing a $60 price tag for this.
You can view the official page here.
Have to admit the trailer looks quite engaging and gorgeous, so hopefully we will be seeing this soon in North America and Europe.
Not only are Atlus & VanillaWare surprising us with the Odin Sphere re-creation, but they also have teased a new, upcoming project with a thirty second trailer. Expect more details in September, including the reveal, but a glance of the trailer tells us that the game will be technology-based, giving off a bit of "The Matrix" vibe.
Here's the teaser trailer:
