Atlus Teases "P5R" in New Video, More in March 2019

Begin speculation.

Atlus, developers behind the Persona game series, have published a video recently, confirming the existence of a Persona 5 follow up. But it's only a teaser.

Little is made clear in the video. The entire 30-second clip shows a large city street, with many of the digital billboards displaying the familiar Persona imagery and the phrase "Take your heart." It concludes by telling us to wait until March 2019 for more, linking to P5R.jp.

Let the speculation begin. Many are taking P5R to mean Persona 5 R, which might be an enhanced edition of the game. The concept is nothing new to Atlus, who did the same with the previous two Persona games. The enhanced editions usually contained new content, such as social links and new events. Since the video begins with the PS4 splash screen, it's also a safe assumption that it will be on that console.

Rumors were spreading about a new version of the game for the Nintendo Switch. This is largely fueled by the recent announcement for Joker, the game's protagonist, to be the first DLC character for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a Nintendo flagship and Switch exclusive.

This idea was otherwise crushed by Atlus PR manager John Hardin, who stated back in January that the game would never come to the Switch.

"Persona 5 platforms: PS3, PS4.
Yakuza 0 platforms: PS4.

THAT'S. IT.

No Switch. No PC. Idk about the box label, that's a Sony thing."

To be fair, however. Nintendo also stated that Night Trap, the classic FMV game that featured a lingerie'd woman, would never make its way to a Nintendo console. Granted that was in 1992. That exact game would end up rereleasing on the Nintendo Switch.

All we can do now is wait until March and see what they have to reveal.
