At long last, they really have uncovered the ET landfill! The companies that I had previously mentioned in an earlier article have finally been given the all-clear to dig the landfill. The project, headed by Zak Penn, is intended for a multitude of reasons. Some of it is just pure nostalgia, a look back into the heyday of the 80's. Some of it is solely for the sake of finding a legendary treasure trove that had once been completely lost in time, like a rare tournament cartridge you'd see for older games. Primarily, though, the hunt for the cartridges is being made into a movie that's being produced by Xbox's entertainment arm.
Well, finally! It took them long enough to get on their hands and knees and start scooping the dirt! But in all seriousness, this is a really cool event. Back in the day that the Atari 2600 was first coming out, ET was just arriving in theaters, as you might have guessed. So, in order to try and make money off of it, they made a game out of it. Only problem is, the game was virtually unplayable. Bugs, bad gameplay, almost unrecognizable issues. To make matters worse, they made 5 MILLION OF THESE CARTRIDGES. To put it into perspective, there were more cartridges made than there were Ataris in existence at the time. Kind of poor market planning, huh?
There's bad, there's worse, then there's this...
Like digging up your brother's bike you totally trashed doing a sick wheelie.
