Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Former Creative Director is Finally Fired

The Ubisoft “drama” (although calling it that is about the biggest charity you could afford the company) continues, as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s former creative director, Ashraf Ismail, has been fired following the conclusion of an investigation carried out by an unnamed external company. This will be the second person to be properly fired from the company following the start of this debacle.

Initially in June, Ashraf Ismail stepped down from his position, tweeting something like an apology and remorse for the way this has “destroyed his family”, following the reveal that he had lied about his marital status in order to get into a sexual relationship with a fan, a Streamer known as Maronedea. That’s scummy enough, but it was later discovered that she was just one of several women who he lied to in order to sleep with, which is what provoked the third-party investigation.

It seems they’ve found him guilty, according to an internal email leaked to Kotaku. Unfortunately, the statement does not reveal much – even who was doing the investigation.

"Following an investigation by an external firm, it was determined that Ashraf’s employment with Ubisoft had to be terminated. We cannot provide any details about this confidential investigation."

This makes the fifth person that Ubisoft has either fired or allowed to resign, a list that includes VP of editorial and creative services Tommy François, chief creative officer Serge Hascoët, managing director of Ubisoft’s Canadian studio Yanis Mallat, and global head of human resources Cécile Cornet. To date, it has not included CEO Yves Guillemot, who has done everything in his power to skirt responsibility by claiming he was a “victim” of betrayed trust. The truth of this statement is dubious, and as long as he heads the company it is increasingly unlikely real “justice” will be served, if you can call it that
