Assassin’s Creed Origins was the sort-of long-awaited return for Ubisoft’s open-world historical serial killer simulator, which had gone on hiatus after the fans and Ubisoft alike agreed the series had gotten a wee bit stale. It returned with a fresh coat of paint, weird RPG mechanics, and loot boxes up the wazoo, but people seem to agree that it’s a solid enough game and one of the better entries in the series.

And for those fans who were dedicated enough to grab themselves a season pass, then they’ll be happy to hear that the first expansion has now been released, called The Hidden Ones. The new expansion adds another region to the map, Bayek fighting the Romans in a story that’s one year after the events of the main game, an increase of the level cap from 40 to 45, as well as new items and locations.

But if you had no plans to get the expansion, Ubisoft still has good news for you: released for free for all players is a new quest, an update to Heka chests that add once-exclusive items from the Nightmare, First Civilization, Gladiator, and Wacky packs. And the option to sell outfits and weaver shops. Not bad.

Oh, and on top of all these celebrations, from the 9th to the 16th of January players will get another chance to fight Anubis, and Sobek will be down to brall between the 23rd and the 30th of the same month.

We’re due to get a second DLC in March called the Curse of the Pharaohs: we’re not exactly sure what it will have but Ubisoft promises we’ll be fighting “famed Egyptian monsters”… so mummies, obviously. Nothing like mixing light historical revisionism with 60’s horror movies, am I right?

In any case, it looks like a good enough time for the fans. Go get em’!
