Assassin's Creed Creator Hints at New Game on Twitter

Okay that title might have been a tad misleading... the creator of Assassin's Creedis not hinting that he is working on anything related to Mortal Kombat or Unreal. As E3 draws ever closer, many developers are taking to twitter to get the hype train warmed up. With rumors of an E3 reveal of a PS4 exclusive Demon's Souls successor and a Pokemon fighting game-- it looks like the competition to get gamer's attention is going to be stiff this year. Since these hints are coming directly from the developers themselves... I wouldn't really file this under the Rumor Miller.

First up is Patrice Desilets, you might not recognize him by name... but he is the guy responsible for Ubisoft's Prince of Persia series and Assassin's Creed. Patrice has hinted on twitter that a reveal from him is coming soon. Desilets left Ubisoft in 2010 to develop a new title at THQ... only to have that title land up being owned by Ubisoft after THQ's bankruptcy auction. Desilets couldn't stomach going back to work for Ubisoft... so the game was shelved (supposedly). As part of his contract, there was a non-compete clause that prevented him from talking about his next project (think of Conan getting canned from NBC). That clause is set to expire at the end of the month... just in time for E3.

Next up another famous (or infamous) game designer who is very active on twitter. Unlike Desilets, Ed Boon has been at the head of every single Mortal Kombat game to come out... and he's far from done making more of them. He started posting tweets that (when deciphered) are a countdown to June 2nd. This tweet he post earlier today can be re-arranged to make out Mortal Kombat 10. This doesn't come as too much as a surprise, as Kiefer Sutherland already confirmed he did a voice for the game back in February. There's also the case of a panel for Batman: Arkham Knight at last month's Wondercon that mentioned a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us is in the works. Both the last MK and Injustice were hugely successful fighting games, so it is a no brainer that WB would be making more of them.

The last hinted game I have to say was a bit of a curveball. The Unreal Engine is a very lucrative business for Epic Games... but there was a time when Unreal was a game franchise. If you are a member of this site's target demographic... Unreal Tournament needs no explanation, but the time of the fast paced online arena FPS has long passed. We know that Epic sold Gears of War to Microsoft and have been working on Fortnight for a couple years now. The president of Epic Games, Mark Rein, has hinted on twitter that we'll be seeing something about an Unreal Tournament comeback. Whether this is a re-release of the classic game, or a modern sequel is the question on everybody's lips right now. Whatever it is, there will be a livestream revealat 2pm ET tomorrow.

You might want to start considering that second summer job to pay for all these upcoming games now.
