Speculation has been brought to light with this new metallic boxer, Springtron!

About 2 weeks ago, Nintendo released Version 4.0, a major update to their stretchy armed fighting game, ARMs. This update included some new features, but the focus was on the new fighter, Misango. It caught us all by surprise to see that in the same month we would be getting another new fighter, though his arrival was teased previously.

Version 4.1 released today, and its primary focus is on Springtron. This new fighter looks like a more evil, and robotic, version of the flagship character, Spring Man. To further cement the similarities, the two fighters have the same arms and share the same available arm loadouts between them.

What makes this copper clad counterfeit different? Aside from potential stat differences, Springtron operates his charge differently. When Springtron breaks off an incomplete charge, he releases a shockwave that will deflect incoming fists, while a complete charge will release a much larger shockwave. I find this to be a very fitting ability to his unstoppable Terminator style.

Like before, this update is more than just a new fighter. Additional badges have been added to the game. Badges are ARMs' form of achievements. They are rewarded to players when they fulfill particular requirements.

With Max Brass operating like a slower and stronger version of Spring Man, it will be interesting to see how the gameplay develops with Springtron's inclusion. More details about him and the rest of the update can be found at Nintendo's support website.
