Well, Batman: Arkham night is doin’ pretty good on consoles, but on the PC… less so. For some reason, the PC version of the game is so buggy and unplayable that if you don’t own it already, you’ll have to wait for some indeterminate time in the future for Warner Brothers to re-release it. Now, the console peeps have the edge, but people forget: there are still PC copies of Batman: Arkham night out there. Which means that modders have been working, silently, all this time to remind people why the PC race is the ‘master race.'
And thus, we have our first excellent mod for the new game: the Playable Characters mod. Spoilers ahead!
As people who’ve played the game (or just looked up spoilers online) know, there are actually a lot of playable characters in the latest Arkham game. But while some are only playable as DLC, or particular points in the game, their code is still in the game—and this mod allows you to switch between them instantly in the free-range map mode, by selecting F1 through F12.
Your choices are Red Hood, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Robin, Azrael, Bruce Wayne, Catwoman, Commissioner Gordon, Joker, GCPD Officer Owens, and of course Batman. The change is instantaneous and affects gameplay, so it’s not just a swap of skins.
Some, however, have Batman’s voice. And the thugs confuse them for Batman. It’s a mod, so, that kind of thing is to be expected. Check out this video showing off all the characters in action:
Ultimately, this looks really cool… and a great way to get your hands on Harley Quinn, if you don’t want to bother with the pre-order DLC. It was never a question of if this game would get mods, but rather, the quality of the mod… and I have to say, with a mod like this in the forefront, things are looking up for Arkham Knight's PC gamers.
