Ark: Survival Evolved Announced for Nintendo Switch

We were all caught a bit off guard when Studio Wildcard announced that their sci-fi dino survival game Ark: Survival Evolved would be coming to mobile devices. That isn't the only port in progress, it turns out. Since they have now announced that the game is also coming to Nintendo Switch.

Wildcard made the announcement at todays State of Unreal presentation at the annual Game Developers Conference. The port is being co-developed with Abstraction Games and is expected to launch during fall 2018.

[expect] the complete contents and features of the original game; from the massive and mysterious ARK island, to the more than 100 prehistoric- and fantasy-inspired creatures such as the T-Rex, Giganotosaurus, Rock Drake and Reaper.

Ark: Survival Evolve co-director Jeremy Stieglitz spoke about why he believes the Nintendo Switch version of the game is a significant step forward for the game's playability.

The Switchs handheld mode provides a fantastic new capability for survivors who want to fully immerse themselves in the vast worlds of ARK. With this new version, Switch players can go directly from hunting and taming while sitting on the couch, to forming online tribes and searching out new conquests when on the bus, waiting in line, or wherever they happen to be.
