After a lot of waiting, and even more asking, popular battle royale game Apex Legends is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch. And its coming as soon as next month.
Developer Respawn Entertainment posted an announcement online (and on Twitter) confirming that Apex Legends will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch on March 9, 2021.
The announcement comes with a small blog post by Chad Grenier, the games director. In it, he thanks third party porting company Panic Button for helping with the port, and details some events to follow. And just to be sure: yes, it will feature cross play.
Grenier also explains that since the Switch release will be a few weeks after the start of Season 8, any Switch players will be granted 30 free levels on their Battle Pass for that season. Additionally, playing on the Switch for the first two weeks after launch will grant the player double XP.
Originally, the Switch port was supposed to release some time in 2020. This, like many other development studios, were likely caught off guard by the ongoing pandemic. So the delay comes as little to no surprise to us.
Until then, Apex Legends will be free to play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A next gen version is coming and can be played on XSX and PS5 via backwards compatibility.
