Since we're closing in on the end of the year, companies have started their yearly tradition of hosting financial calls with investors. Generally, these are pretty dry, boring affairs that only really matter to people who have skin in the game, but occasionally we learn something interesting -- either about specific games, or the mindset of the leaders who run it.

In this article, we'll be looking at the former, because EA has just revealed that their iconic Battle Royale game, Apex Legends, has earned 24% more than the previous quarter, and is expected to bring in 500 million big ones by the end of the year.

"We started the year expecting Apex Legends to deliver $300 million to $400 million in net bookings. It is now on track to deliver more than $500 million... That is, Apex will have gone from zero to about a billion dollars in lifetime net books in just two years. With this velocity, and the addition of mobile, we believe Apex has the potential to grow to a billion dollars in net bookings every year."

They added that the game's recent release on Steam has also been a big hit, which is probably why they're so optimistic with their half-billion prediction.

"Steam in the first 12 hours, performance has been extremely strong. Our new Champion Edition is already a top-three best seller on Steam. We had the most minutes watched on Twitch since the launch of the product. So it's another testament to the unbelievable inspirational capabilities of our teams and their ability to continue to deliver amazing game experiences and content in the face of these ongoing challenges."

While I personally don't much care for EA Games, I am a big fan of Respawn, and I've enjoyed Apex Legends in the past, so I'm not unhappy with this success myself. But I'm sure there are fans who might be a bit miffed, considering how badly Season 7 is apparently going so far.

Still, if that's how much Apex Legends is making... imagine the kind of dolla dolla Fortnite is dragging in, eh?
