Ever since Nintendo announced they would be releasing apps and games for smartphones last year, they’ve released three apps in total: Miimoto, a simple social app, Super Mario Run, which put a unique Nintendo twist on the well-known ‘runner’ style of game, and Fire Emblem Heroes, which is basically a watered-down version of Fire Emblem with free-to-play elements shoehorned in. With the exception of Miimoto, all have been pretty darn successful.

We’ve known for a while that Nintendo had plans to release an Animal Crossing game for Smartphones as well, but we didn’t know anything about it… until now.

Introducing Animal Crossing Pocket Camp!

While we still don’t know that much about this new mobile game, I think what little information the Big N has made public is more than sufficient to fill in the blanks ourselves. In Pocket Camp, instead of running a full town, you’re managing a camp and living out of a camper van. Still, your task is largely the same: improve your camp, draw animals who want to stay there, and complete tasks for “leaf tickets” (which can also be purchased with real money, of course) to get more amenities and upgrades so you can be a better camp manager.

This on top of all the other recreational stuff you can do in Animal Crossing, such as fishing, bug catching, and fruit picking. And, to top it all off, there’s even multiplayer, so you can visit friend’s camps and trade items.

The game will be free-to-play when it launches this November, which shouldn’t be much of a surprise. Given the nature of these types of games, you can expect to spend a lot of time waiting before you finish things, but with luck, it won’t be as bad as certain Dungeon Keeper games we’ll never forget.
