The card, known unofficially as the R9 390X, is to be quite the technological beast, dressed with a couple nifty features. First of all, the card is rumored to sport four 1GB of HBM, or high-bandwith memory - 1GB of HBM takes up less space than 1GB of GDDR5 memory. HBM is Radeon's new technology that adds RAM onto the GPU to provide more bandwidth while maintaining a surface area 94% less than the GDDR5. The card is also said to boast a new Fiji GPU and water cooling technology.
To quote AMD Ceo Lisa Su during AMD's recent financial analyst's day:
"[HBM] enables a lot of really interesting form factors."
The company promises that it will officially reveal the R9 390X before the end of June. If anything, expect it during the premiere of the PC Show, which is co-hosted by AMD, at E3 2015. For now, we can admire the slick, form-fitting monster's appearance.
