Only a matter of time before Amazon swallows EA whole.

Given that Amazon, the world's number one marketplace, carries just about anything you can think of, including it's very own Amazon-branded groceries, it was a matter of time before Amazon would dabble into gaming.

Not just selling or publishing games either. I am referring to creation. Currently, Amazon is seeking game developers to create their first PC game project, utilizing the oh-so-vague "latest technology." Of course, the game's details are still hush-hush, but there seems to be plans for streaming. So possible full Twitch integration?

To quote the company's endeavor of this project:

"Amazon is committed to gamers, and building great teams who are excited to use Twitch, the AWS Cloud, and technical innovation to radically evolve gameplay. We believe that games have just scratched the surface intheir power to unite players and will produce some of the future's most influential voices in media and art."

Currently, Amazon Game Studios, based in Seattle with offices in Irvine, CA and Palo Alto, CA, has a few veterans on its team, including Clint Hocking (Far Cry 2), Kim Swift (Portal), developers from Half Life 2, Left for Dead, Dota 2, Halo, Infamous, Shadows of Mordor, and The Last of Us.

I wonder if the game will be about Amazon taking over the world? Or maybe, just maybe, some virtual shopping spree gone wrong? Who knows?

If you want to know more about the available jobs, you can always e-mail Amazon Game Studios, or if you want to rush forward and apply, you can check out Amazon's job listings here. Do you have the chops to join Amazon's elite?
