We had a Nintendo Direct conference the other day, which is always an exciting time to be a fan of the big N, because that means there’s going to be a lot of new information and trailers to examine and enjoy. But as a reporter, it generally means we get a lot of trailers, but not a lot of any additional information that would help flesh out an article beyond “Hey look at this trailer”. So, instead of chopping up the Nintendo Direct into several small articles looking at the three trailers released on YouTube, we’re just gonna mash em’ into one big article.

First up: Metroid Prime Federation Force!

The series that everyone wanted got the game no one asked for. While I’m not happy the next Metroid game will be down one Samus, I have to admit, it doesn’t deserve nearly as much vitriol as the game seems to be receiving. Heck, after Other M, it might be just better if Samus got some time on the sideline. Regardless, this trailer gives us a look at the gameplay, but more importantly, it also gives us an idea of the plot, which seems fairly standard for a Metroid title.

And I have to say, right now, my only real problem is that the humans look a little… stupid. Their heads are as large as the rest of their bodies, and that look seems really out of place in the Metroid universe. But, if they’re spending most of their time in suits anyway…

Anyway, we also got a trailer for a kind of new game, Star Fox Guard!

Based off an E3 Demo for the Wii U two years ago, it’s now been turned into a Star Fox Spin-Off where you play a everyone’s favorite member of the Star Fox crew, Slippy, as he helps defend his uncle’s mining operation from evil robots. You do this by setting up camera turrets all around a maze and jumping between them to shoot robots from whichever side they’re most vulnerable. And if you want to be on the attacking end, you can even set up your own ‘pattern’ of robots and set them on people’s bases.

The gameplay is pretty unique, so I’m actually fairly excited about this one. It’ll be packaged with the physical copy of Star Fox Zero, and it can also be bought separately if you decide to get the digital version.

And finally, we have a new Kirby game-- Kirby: Planet Robobot!

Not much to say about this one. It’s Kirby, except he can use the power armor of defeated enemies in addition to copying their powers, so, it’s double the copycat. What’s more interesting is that there will now be a new multiplayer mode, kind of like an RPG, where everyone has classes and can level up. An interesting twist to the Kirby multiplayer formula, which had always been a little ‘different’ compared to its other peers at Nintendo.

Also, with the announcement of Kirby: Planet Robobot, we’re also getting four new Amiibos: Warp Star Kirby, King DeDeDe, Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee. So that’s neat.

Anyway, that’s the Nintendo Direct conference in a nutshell. Go enjoy the Big N and everything it has to offer!

...Side note, I think they need to find a new voice person for narrating these videos. This guy is seriously plain.
