Where there are people having fun, there are people looking to ruins those peoples' fun. Fortunately, the fun-ruiners are being put to justice. A suspect has been arrested recently for performing a DDoS attack on the World of Warcraft servers.

Earlier this month, World of Warcraft experienced a distributed denial-of-service attack, or a DDoS. In layman's terms, this throws so much data at the server that it becomes clogged and cannot operate to actual users anymore.

A Blizzard community manager has stated that an individual was arrested in conjunction with a series of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks across World of Warcraft servers earlier this month. And according to a report by GamesIndustry.biz reporter Rebekah Valentine, the suspect behind the attack has now been arrested.

The information comes originally from a forum update by community manager Kaivax.

"Immediately after the Distributed Denial of Service attacks against our game service began, the Blizzard Security Team worked around the clock with local and international law enforcement agencies to track down the source of the DDoS. It is our understanding that, within a few days, authorities were able to successfully identify and arrest a suspect."

DDoSing a game server is an unfortunately common practice in modern-day gaming. Blizzard themselves saw it just a few years ago with Overwatch, with EA seeing the same only a month later than that. W

With modern advancements in technology, finding the source of the attacks have become easier, allowing authorities to find the attackers. The suspect has not been convicted of a crime at this time. But if they're declared guilty, they could be subject to two years in prison, or more.

How about we let people have their fun, for once?
