Cyberpunk 2077 was a bit of a flop. After years and years of hype, escalating to many people preemptively calling it the biggest game of the decade, when it finally came out it was… alright. Alright, with a side of bugs and glitches that could render the game borderline unplayable. But after so much hype, “alright but with glitches” might as well have been “disastrous”, because as a direct result of the game’s lackluster performance, CD Projekt Red got embroiled in several lawsuits, most of which came from investors who felt they were sold on a false vision of the game.
Well, according to a new post by CD Projekt Red, they now only have one lawsuit to deal with… because the courts have merged together all four separate lawsuits together into one monolith that they now have to tackle.
Stll, they are going to tackle it. I can’t imagine any game studio would just let themselves get sued over a game, even if the lawsuit is coming from their favorite people of all time, investors.
There’s no word as of yet which way the court is currently leaning, so this could still turn out any way. And thankfully, since this is just rich people suing rich people over money, we don’t really have to care, either.
