Looking forward to purchasing another new console? Well, it appears that Valve does indeed have a PC-based competitor to face in the living room. Alienware and Dell have joined forces to bring consumers the promise of a console-sized PC made to accompany your TV. Alienware Alpha is now available, complete with Windows 8.1 and an Xbox 360 controller. To own the base model, people can expect to shell out $549. The model includes the Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M graphics card, the Intel i3 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a 500 GB hard drive. However, those interested in a stronger, meaner version can instead opt for the $699 upgraded version, which includes 8 GB of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive. For $799, the i3 processor will be upgraded into an i5 processor, and more RAM and storage space will be added. And finally, for a mere, cheap $899, you can secure the Alienware Alpha with the GTX 860M, i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM and a whopping 2 TB of storage. Unfortunately, this machine does not come with a mouse and keyboard combination.

Honestly, even for the most expensive model, that isn't a bad price, considering the prices of gaming laptops nowadays. As for where to buy the Alienware Alpha, you can stroll into select Walmart and Fry's Electronics (AKA, make sure to look up the availability to prevent disappointment and despair). The other option is to purchase online at Walmart, Fry's Electronics, Dell, Best Buy, GameStop, Amazon, NewEgg, Sam's Club, and Tiger Direct. Though not the most powerful system in the world, the Alienware Alpha can play a few games on max settings, so if you cannot wait to pick up the Steam Machine next year, the Alienware Alpha would make a snazzy alternative.
