After much anticipation, Sandbox Interactive is finally announcing the official release date for their Sandbox MMORPG Albion Online. It officially launches on July 17 of this year and more information will be provided closer to the launch date.
Albion Online is a fresh take on the MMORPG genre. It features one gigantic living, breathing mass server that all players share. Over 200,000 players joined the world of Albion Online for their final beta, making it a fairly successful early access trial period. Albion Online is also the very first PC MMORPG to bring players the exact same experience from the computer to a tablet. It truly is a cross-platform game, which will be available on Windows, Linux, Mac, IOS and Android.
Albion Online is very different from the typical, standard cookie-cutter MMORPG. It features a sandbox world, where every weapon and building is crafted by the player. The game uses a "you are what you wear" system, which basically makes the game classless. So if you're an archer, you can quickly turn into a mage or a warrior by equipping the appropriate weapons/armor. Without classes restricting the player's choices and decisions, the game has a lot of replayability without the added struggle of leveling new characters. Players can enjoy either PVE or PVP content at their leisure. Though with every action, comes a reaction. Fighting in the danger zones of the game enables a "winner takes all" formula similar to the Wilderness in Runescape.
Before the official launch, Albion Online will be getting the most massive update to date, allowing players to test it out starting March 13th. "Galahad" adds six new biome cities, completely overhauls the PVE system, and much more. With it comes a wipe, setting all players on an even player field for the new content.
