Activision Announces Upcoming Remasters in Quarterly Report

Not talking about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remaster.

When you become a company as large as Activision Blizzard, there are obligations you need to fulfill. Sometimes interesting information can be parsed from these obligations. According to a Form 10-K submitted by the company, we might be getting another big name remaster in the near future.

A Form 10-K is an annual report required by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), that summarizes a company's financial performance. In Activision Blizzard's most recent form submission, they list remasters under the "Expected Upcoming Releases" section.

"In addition, we expect to deliver ongoing content for our various franchises . . . as well as releases of remastered versions of titles from our library of IP."

Activision holds key to a lengthy list of IPs. So there's no telling which ones they'd bring back. Recent reports have indicated that Tony Hawk is no longer working with Activision, so it's safe to assume it won't be any of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. It's important to note that this is not referring to the Modern Warfare remaster, as they address that title previously in the report.

Most interestingly, the report speaks in the plural sense (releases, versions, titles). This implies the possibility of more than one remasters in the coming quarters. It could easily be an older Call of Duty game, or perhaps Goldeneye 007. Personally, I'm waiting for a remaster of 2 in 1: DreamWorks' Shark Tale + Shrek 2 for Game Boy Advanced.

What Activision games would you want to see remastered?
