Acer has just announced its new gaming hardware lineup for this year and with it a pretty big surprise to some hardware geeks. Along with other new updates to the lineup they will now be joining the Red Team by putting AMD processors and graphics cards in all their new computers.

The classic Acer Predator Helios 500 laptop will feature a 17.3-inch monitor and will be able to incorporate processors up to the AMD Ryzen 7 2700, which boasts 8 cores. Furthermore, the Helios will be able to take advantage of graphics cards as powerful as the AMD Radeon RX Vega 56, complete with 8GB of high-bandwidth memory. Also included is AMD's freesync technology. These versions of the Helios 500 will run you roughly $2,199, depending on the features you choose. Expect a launch date of August 2018.

Not only are Acer laptops getting the fresh new Red Team chips, but their high-end towers are also including them. Starting in September 2018, the top of the line Acer Predator Orion 5000 will be kitted with a processor up to the Ryzen 7 2700x. The Orion 5000 will also be outfitted with an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1080 GPU for maximum resolution and VR capabilities. This new version of the Orion will start at $1,499, with pricing dependent on included features.

For those who aren't trying to break the budget but still want a fresh new gaming desktop, the Acer Nitro 50 might be more to your liking. They still will have the AMD processors available that the Orion 5000 will, but the graphics cards available will be maxed out at the Nvidia GTX 1060. Also releasing in September 2018, this new tower will start at $899.

If you want an AMD gaming PC but don't want to build it yourself, Acer did a great job at making your options high-end and affordable. With the price of graphics cards changing weekly, it is nice to know you can get a guaranteed high-end graphics card in a tower whose price won't change in a couple of days.
