AbleGamers CEO Mark Bartley recently spoke with PocketGamer.biz about their plan. The charity recently published their own website, accessible.games, for connecting developers to accessibility experts during development.
Now they're adding a new section to the site. This new section will place Accessible Player Experience (APX) experts directly into development teams so that they can assist in making an in-development game playable by those with restrictions and disabilities.
Mark Bartley"The next big thing we're working on is we are launching a certification program aimed at the industry called Accessible Play Experience practitioners. . . We've found that once we embed champions within the studio space, accessibility becomes a really cheap thing to add."
Often times, games unintentionally overlook various disability restrictions. This ranges from not including colorblind support to not supporting alternate control schemes.
AbleGamers is a fantastic organization and this is just one example why.
