After it was revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog did better than Pokemon at US Box Offices, most people probably assumed that a sequel was unavoidable. But now we no longer merely have to assume, as Paramount and Sega have confirmed to Variety that a sequel has been green-lit.
Anyway, the only thing they’ve confirmed is that director Jeff Fowler and writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller are back on board, but one could probably assume that Jim Carrey, James Marsden and Sonic’s voice Ben Schwartz will be making a return as well.
If the sequel will be any closer to the games than the first movie has yet to be seen, but those after-credit scenes would certainly suggest there’ll at least be more elements from the games.
And… That’s pretty much all there is to say.
