After such a long wait, we have finally received details on Final Fantasy XIV's first expansion, Heavensward, at 12 PM EST at the developer's panel at PAX East. There have been a few pieces of worthy information discovered via livestream, of which will be listed below:
  • Overview of the Heavensward story
  • Recap of flying mounts, Alexander, the new race Au'ra, Dark Knight, Astrologian, and Machinist jobs, and level 60 cap
  • Alexander loot system is refreshed, entirely different from what we are used to (no details, however)
  • For those that desire this, female Au'ra can be customized to appear similar to the succubus
  • Explanation as to how developers decide upon a new job, which takes a full year to develop
  • Samurai was an option, but the developers chose Dark Knight over Samurai, with Samurai to appear someday in the future
  • A brand-spanking new video on appearances of the beautiful level 60 gear
  • Presented box art packing
  • Mac version is confirmed for Heavensward release date
  • Introduction of a nine minute benchmark arrives next month
And last, but far from least, the announcements for the release dates.

Pretend you can hear a drum roll.

The Heavensward expansion of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be released on June 23rd, with early access confirmed for June 19th. Preorders will be available on March 16, 2015.

So in 9 days.

Exciting, no? Even though I have to wonder how the developers will keep us busy between now and June 19th/23rd. I suppose there's always more Triple Triad games that can be conquered.
