Hey everybody. If you haven't noticed by now, it is the Christmas season. It's also the season for several other winter and end-of-year celebrations. Regardless of your preferred holiday (or lack thereof), surely you have all kinds of neat little traditions. My parents typically watch Scrooged, starring Bill Murray, on Christmas Eve. My wife's family makes a big deal about stockings on Christmas Eve. I personally binge Christmas music until I'm unbearable to be around. This year, though, I am suggesting we all start a new tradition.

Being a gamer is part of who I am. I'm sure that's true for a lot of you as well. So I think a nice, video game related tradition is called for. I don't know about you, but I have an absolute assload of video games in my backlog. I hate to admit it, but a decent percentage of those were Christmas presents. These were specifically games I wanted, asked for, and got from somebody. Most importantly, they are games that I haven't even taken the plastic off of (metaphorically, I mean; 90% of my games are PC downloads).

Thank you, Steam.

I am willing to bet most of you are the same way. So I propose we start a new tradition of taking a bit of time for one of those forsaken games. Whenever you find down time this season, take a look at the games you haven't played yet. Maybe you got it last year. Maybe 5 years ago. Personally, I have a copy of Final Fantasy XIII I got on launch year (2009) that I never opened. Hell, you don't even have to have gotten it for Christmas or whatever. Just pick any game you haven't had the chance to play yet and give it a whirl. A good, honest whirl too. I know I'm going to do it. I just can't decide between Ni No Kuni and Final Fantasy XIII.
